~Each Side of Dawn~It weighs
hundreds of pounds, the bawling creature. It is her chosen task to mother it. She
imagines herself a ranch witch, feeding a motherless dragon. Death is a new
wind, a chilling reminder, ashes strewn by a zephyr. ~WordWulf~

~Carry On~Bless this place, we beseech you, every man, woman, child, and its
leaders who teach us, every man, woman, child. Carry on sweet Jesus, carry on,
carry on. ~WordWulf~

~Quodlibet IX: A Tender Wrapping~The tiny woman wraps them in her housecoats, forces
bunny slippers on their feet, dries their shaggy heads with towels. “You are
old men now, in your fifties, for god sake. You have no business riding those
damned machines.” They sit on her couch shivering, grinning sheepishly at each
other. Her two oldest sons, having ridden their Harleys five hundred miles in
the rain to celebrate her birthday with her. ~WordWulf~

~Butterfly Poet~ It finally arrived,
the day words wouldn’t come, the empty feeling refused to go. He tore his hand from
the glove of his mind, watched his imagination, those minute remnants left, dribble
onto the notebook, a blot pattern blood ink. He wrote an ode to the butterfly:
